8 Ball Pool Rules & Gameplay
- 1. The game of 8 Ball Pool is played with one cue ball (white) and 15 numbered object balls (solids and stripes).
- The goal of the game is to pocket all of your assigned object balls (solids or stripes) and then pocket the 8-ball.
- The player assigned to shoot the striped balls must pocket all of the striped balls first. The player assigned to shoot the solid balls must pocket all of the solid balls first.
- The first player to legally pocket all of his/her assigned object balls and then pocket the 8-ball wins the game.
- When shooting, at least four object balls must hit a cushion or pocket. If the cue ball does not hit a cushion or pocket, the shot does not count and the player has to re-shoot.
- If the cue ball is pocketed, the player must place the cue ball in the kitchen and shoot from there.
- If a ball is illegally pocketed, it is returned to the table and the shot does not count.
- If a player pockets the 8 ball before all of his/her object balls are pocketed, he/she loses the game.
- If the 8 ball is pocketed in a pocket other than the one designated, the player loses the game.
- If the 8 ball is jumped off the table, the player loses the game.
